LESSONS FROM HAJJ - { PILGRIMAGE }

I begin with the name of Allah the most merciful and the most kind, peace and blessing be upon beloved Prophet (S.A.W) All praise is for Allah.

All praise is for Allah (S.W.T). We praise him and seek his help and his forgiveness and we believe in Him and rely on Him. We seek refuge with Allah (S.W.T) from the evil of ourselves and the vices of our deeds. There is no one to misguide whom Allah (S.W.T) guides and there is no one to guide whom Allah (S.W.T) lets go astray (refuses to follow the divine guidance). I bear witness that there is not God but Allah (S.W.T) alone. He ( the most high ) has no partner. I bear witness that our authority, our prophet and our master ( beloved ) Muhammad is his servant and his messenger. May Allah (S.W.T) have mercy on Him (S.A.W), his household and his companions and bless them in great abundance.

HAJJ is one of the five beautiful principle of Islam, It is reported that all the prophets from Adam (Alaihissalaam) to the last Prophet Sayyidina Muhammad (S.A.W) performed the Hajj of Ka'aba (bait-ullah in Makkah). Sayyidina Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) have said: "One who performed the Hajj of the Holy Mosque (Ka'aba) and he refrained from impropriety and disobedience, he shall be purified from his sins as a child at his birth." (Sahib Al-Bukhari and Sahib Al-Muslim).

Our beloved Prophet (S.A.W) has said: "Obey Allah (S.W.T) and His Prophet Sayyidina Muhammad (S.A.W) during the period of hajj and Umrah, because (hajj and umrah) obliterate the sins as the fire burn out the rust of the iron." (Hadith)

LESSONS

One who performs Hajj, he makes the love of Allah (S.W.T) and His Prophet (S.W.T) and the love of all kinds of struggle in the way of Ma'roof (all good things) more than every thing in this world.

The Pilgrims Sacrifices the company of parents, children, relatives, friends and his home and the place of inheritance only and only for the true love, obedience of Allah (S.W.T) and his beloved Prophet (S. A. W). He tries to copy the ritual performed by Sayyidina Ibraheem Alaihissalam and Sayyidah Hajira (Wife of Ibraheem alaihis salaam) who actually sacrifices every thing in this material world to obey and please their Lord. Allah (S.W.T) says: "And we called out to him (Ibraheem alaihis salaam), O ABRAHAM you have fulfilled the dream! Verily thus do we reward the muhsinoon righteous good doers. Verily that indeed was a manifest trial and we ransomed him with a great sacrifice, And we left for him (Abraham) a goodly remembrance, among the later generations. Peace be upon Ibraheem Thus indeed we reward the muhsinoon (good doers). Verily he was one of our believing slaves." (Sura As-Saffat)

MAQAM-E-IBRAHEEM

The stone on which Sayyidina Ibraheem alaihissalam stood during the building of the Holy Ka'aba was protected and kept safe by his true followers and then it was granted protection by the last Prophet of Allah (S.W.A) and until today its kept safe by the Muslims. The stone itself does not posses any power benefiting or harming, but it is still loved and respected by all muslims as it was used and blessed by the fact of Sayyidina Ibraheem alaihisalam. It is also mentioned in the Holy Quran. Allah (S.W.T) says: "And remember the house (Ka'aba) a place of resort for mankind and place of the safety. And take you (All Muslims) the MAQAM (the stone on which Ibraheem (alaihissalam) stood during the building of Ka'aba) as a place of prayer." (Sura al-Baqara Verse 125).

It is due to this command of Allah (S.W.T) glory to be Him that all those who perform Tawaf of the Ka'aba offer two rakaat of Salah at Maqam-e-Ibraheem. The places, which related to the beloved's of Allah (S.W.T) are also blessed. (great importance by Islam for all times to come). This is the reason prayer in Masjid-ul-haram, Masjid-ul Aqsa, Masjid-un Nabawi and Masjid Quba has great excellence.

The place where our beloved Prophet (S.A.W) used to offer Salah in Masjid-un Nabawi is declared part of the gardens of paradise. The two hills known as Safa and Marwa (where Ismael alahis salaams mother Hajira ran in search of water for her baby son) are made as symbol of Islam. As Allah (S.W.T) the most high says: "Verily, As Safa and Al-marwa (two mountains in makkah) are the symbols of Allah (S.W.T). So it is not a sin on him who performs hajj or umra of the House (Ka'aba) perform the SAAEE (walking or running) between them. And whoever does good voluntarily the verily Allah (S.W.T) is All recogniser, All-Knower." (Sura 2 verse 158)

PIETY OF THE HEARTS

The true believers in the Islamic monotheism (At-tauheed) are those honour the symbols of Allah (S.W.T). Their hearts are purified and blessed with the Noor (light) of Tauheed. Allah (S.W.T) says: "And whosoever honours the symbols of Allah (S.W.T) then it is truly, from the piety of the hearts. Their hearts are attached to Allah (S.W.T) and non else worshipping non but Allah (S.W.T) alone."

Allah (S.W.T) says about Sayyidina Ibraheem Alaihisalaam: "And when he came to His Lord with a pure Heart (Qalbil Saleem)." Sura 37- Verse:84.

The greatest source of Allah's (S.W.T) love is Sayyidina Muhammad (S.A.W). Allah (S.W.T) says about those who pay respect and honour Him that is Muhammad (S.A.W): "Verily those who lower their voices in the presence of Allah's messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) they are the one's whose hearts Allah (S.W.T) has tested for piety. For them are forgiveness and a great reward" (Sura 49- verse 3)

REALITY OF TAWAKKUL ALLAH (Relying on Allah (S.W.T))

During days of ignorance one of the wrong custom practiced was that, pilgrims thought, it is a virtuous deed to undertake the Hajj without taking enough or any provision with them and they called this AQEEDA, as confidence or relying on Allah (S.W.T) [Tawakkul Allah]. Hence when they reached in Makkah they started begging. So Allah (S.W.T) commanded by saying: "And do take provision with you became the better benefit of provision is to abstain from begging and fear me O wise" Sura 2 verse:197.

We are mostly suffering with this wrong concept of Tawakkul (relying) on Allah (S.W.T) and deprived of undertaking practical actions.

An Urdu poet has written some beautifully words:

"Allah (S.W.T) has not changed the condition of any nation till today, one who did not undertake the practical steps to change themselves."
