IMPORTANCE OF "AS-SALATU WASSALAM" DARUD'O AND SALAM

I begin with the name of Allah the most merciful and the most kind, peace and blessing be upon beloved Prophet (S.A.W)

All praise is for Allah. We praise him and seek his help and his forgiveness and we believe in Him and rely on Him. We seek refuge with Allah from the evil of ourselves and the vices of our deeds. There is no one to misguide whom Allah guides and there is no one to guide whom Allah lets go astray (refuses to follow the divine guidance). I bear witness that there is not God but Allah alone. He (the most high) has no partner. I bear witness that our authority, our prophet and our master (beloved) Muhammad is His servant and His messenger. May Allah have mercy on Him (S.A.W), His household and His companions and bless them in great abundance.

There is no other righteous practice in the the Holy Quran or in the sunnah of our beloved Prophet ( Sal Allahu alaihi wasallam ) other than assalaat and assalam which is declared as ALLAH `s own pratice before it is commanded to the Muslims. Allah the most High has said in the Holy Quran: "Verily Allah sends his salat (Graces ,honour , blessing ,mercy etc ) on the Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wassallam) and also His Angels ( ask Allah to raise and the honour of our beloved Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi Wassallam) O you who believe ! send salat ( darud ) on him ( Sayyiduna Muhammad peace and blessing of Allah be upon him ) and you should salute him .( Surah Al- ahzab verse :56 )

There are numerous virtues and great rewards mentioned in the Hadith literature for those Muslims who send salat and salam on Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). In the city of Al - Madina when the opponents of RasulAlla SallAllahu Alaihi Wassallam) left no stone unturned in torturing him (S.A.W), Allah the most High revealed the above mentioned verse of Surah Al- Ahzab by which it was declared for the Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi Wassallam) and all Muslims that no one can decrease the honour, status, dignity and success of the Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) and his true followers because Allah is sending his great mercy and bounties all the time.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SENDING SALAT OF ALLAH, HIS ANGLES AND THE BELIEVERS

When the Quran says that Allah sends salat on the beloved (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) it means that Allah the most High keeps on increasing the status of His beloved Prophet (S.A.W) by making Islam the most famous and accepted religion (the way of peaceful life) in the whole world in spite of its opposition as Allah says: "They intend to put out the light of Allah with their mouths (all kinds of oppositions) but Allah will complete His light even though the disbelievers hate it. It is He Allah who has sent His Messenger (SallAllahu Alaihi Wassallam) with guidance and the religion of truth to make it victorious over all other systems of life even the Mushrikun (non Muslims) hate it. (Surah As-Saff verses 8 and 9)

When we say Allah sends salat it also means that on the day of judgement Allah will bless the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him with great permission of SHAFAHAH (intercession) by which forgiveness will be granted to sinful people of Islam. Sending of salat on the Last Prophet of Allah by the Angles means that they all pray to Allah to always increase the stature of His beloved Prophet (S.A.W). Sending of assalat by followers means that they also pray to Allah to send salat on His Last Nabbiyy (S.A.W) by which they are rewarded with forgiveness and their good deeds are increased.

REWARDS OF OFFERING ASSALAT AND ASSALAM ON THE PROPHET (SallAllahu Alaihi Wassallam)

Allah the most High greets and sends His mercy at least ten times on those who send once assalat and assalam to His beloved Prophet (SallAllahu Alaihi Wassallam). The beloved Prophet (S.A.W) has said: "Allah sends ten blessings upon the person who sends one blessing upon me . (Abu Hurairah ( ra) Muslim& Abu Dawud )

"If somebody hears my name, he should ask blessings upon me. When a person asks one blessing upon me, Allah sends ten blessings upon him, forgives his ten sins, and raises him ten degrees (in paradise)." (Ahmad An-Nasai)

"The person who asked blessings upon me abundantly, will be nearest to me on the Day of Judgement." (Tirmidhi, Ibn Hibban)

"There are many angels of Allah who walk about the world and carry the Salam to me which is sent by my Ummah (people)." An-Nasai

"Allah has appointed an angel at my grave who has a power to hear the talks of all the creation (of Allah). When a person asks blessings upon me the angel conveys it to me telling the name of that person and the name of his father." Al-Bazzaz,Imam As-Sakhawi.

"I hear myself, the blessings asked upon me nearby my tomb, and the blessings asked upon me from a distant place are conveyed to me." Al-Baihaq, Miskhat.

A Persian poet has so finely said: "I do not insist on a reply on my every Salam; your one reply is pleasurable for my hundreds of Salams".

In Conclusion it can be said: Let us keep our tongues moist with the continuous recitation of Salat and Salam on our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) - to keep us away from idle gossip and further to increase our reward and bring change in our lives.
